Vanessa Chamberlain
The Childhood Wellness Project (CWP) - a Project of the Cultural Wellness & Family Enrichment Center - was created to address the continued and growing need for education and solutions concerning the 21st century factors affecting our children, families, educators, and community culture. Our young people are struggling more than ever with lack of meaning, purpose, and living-relational connections; and, they are simultaneously bombarded by extraneous stimuli & entertainment-oriented technology often resulting in the 4 D’s: Distraction, Disorientation, Disengagement & Depression – all contributing to our current Youth Disconnection Crisis.
The mission of this Project is to educate and empower Adults – the Guardians of Childhood – to restore the very meaning and landscape of Childhood through returning to the wholesome principles presented in the Guardians of Childhood program, including commitment to honoring the W.I.L.D – Wonder, Innocence, Laughter & Daringness – of Childhood.
Vanessa is passionate about cultivating Cultural, Familial & Childhood Wellness within her beloved hometown community! She feels abundantly blessed to share the gifts of Holistic Health & Wellness, and enjoys working with parents, caregivers, and professionals as they fortify mind, body, spirit wellness within themselves and those they love!
An Arizona native, Vanessa obtained her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology – with an emphasis in Cultural Wellness – from Prescott College, AZ. Through her final research project and thesis work, Understanding Social Toxicity and the Promotion of Cultural Wellness, Vanessa became inspired to create the Cultural Wellness and Family Enrichment Center (CWFEC). Both as mother and professional, Vanessa found there to be a significant disparity between what our culture says it wants for our children and the reality of Childhood in America. The mission of the CWFEC was created in response to this lack of congruence as the CWFEC sought to support parents and professionals in the tenants of cultural, familial, and childhood wellness.
Vanessa has extensive experience in Holistic (social, emotional, intellectual, physical & spiritual) Health & Wellness. Given her multifaceted, systemic foundation, she has implemented inspired, solutions-based programming to address the multitude of complex 21st-century factors impacting our children, families and culture.
Vanessa’s work has resulted in a growing awareness of our need to address root causes should we hope to create social, environmental, and economic sustainability. Her community advocacy – encouraging emphasis on promoting holistic healing & wellness, over a focus on labeling & treating symptoms – has united children, families and professionals where they may otherwise experience alienation, blame and hopelessness.
She is highly regarded for championing community grassroots efforts toward restoring the W.I.L.D. (wonder, innocence, laugher & daringness) of Childhood through her courageous, loving embrace – experienced by clients as her honoring of their inherent wisdom & innate capacity for healing.
Since its founding in 2004, the Cultural Wellness & Family Enrichment Center (CWFEC) has offered innovative trainings, workshops, and public events for professionals, parents, and child advocates to highlight the cultural changes that have contributed to the national child-labeling epidemic and the breakdown of holistic (mind, body, spirit) health and wellbeing. Further, CWFEC offerings have provided meaningful solutions – those that address roots, rather than treat symptoms – ultimately preparing adults to reclaim their role as the Guardians of Childhood. Our work has resulted in increased awareness, acknowledgement, and empowerment among adults throughout our communities.
Increased awareness among a broad spectrum of community stakeholders regarding the impact of current cultural and educational norms on our social, emotional, intellectual, physical + spiritual health and wellbeing.
Acknowledgement + support for parents, educators and other professionals experiencing overwhelm, hopelessness and powerlessness ...
Honoring inherent wisdom - providing space for participants to remember who they are and what they truly want for their children.
Empowerment to: mindfully practice, parent, teach and live according to participants’ inherent wisdom and holistic health-related values; and, cultivate the internal fortitude, faith + forgiveness vital to withstanding parental-peer, educational or cultural pressures.
